话说唐朝时期，有个大户人家，家境殷实，子孙满堂。老爷年轻时勤奋经商，积累了丰厚的家产，希望子孙后代能继承家业，光宗耀祖。然而，他的几个儿子却个个不争气，长子沉迷酒色，挥霍无度，将家产败得七七八八；次子好逸恶劳，不务正业，整日游手好闲；三子虽稍有上进心，但能力有限，无法撑起家业。老爷见此情景，不禁悲叹：我辛辛苦苦一生，到头来却落得个不肖子孙，败家子弟的结局，真是令人痛心疾首啊！ 这则故事告诉我们，不管从事什么行业，都要脚踏实地，勤劳肯干，才能创造出财富，并将其传承下去。而子孙后代也需要继承先辈的优良品质和奋斗精神，才能将家业发扬光大。
In ancient China, there was a wealthy family whose patriarch had worked diligently and accumulated a vast fortune. He hoped his descendants would carry on the family legacy and honor the family tradition. However, his sons greatly disappointed him. The eldest son was a playboy and squandered the fortune. The second son was lazy and did nothing. The third son, though well-intentioned, lacked the ability to manage the business. The father lamented his unworthy sons who wasted his hard-earned wealth. This story shows us the importance of diligence and hard work to create wealth and pass it on to the next generation. The descendants must also inherit the good qualities and fighting spirit of their ancestors to carry on the family legacy.
