Legend has it that in ancient times, Emperor Yao and Emperor Shun were both highly respected wise rulers. They diligently governed and loved their people, setting a good example and gaining the people's support. Emperors Yao and Shun did not gain the people's trust through empty talk, but through their own actions, conquering everyone with their virtue and ability. Their every word and deed demonstrated high moral qualities. Their reputation spread far and wide, and even distant feudal lords were convinced and the country was peaceful. This trust, won without words, did not come from military might or power, but from their inner qualities and abilities. Their story became a model for future rulers, and became a symbol of high moral character in people's hearts, the so-called "silent trust".
