Origin Story
话说大明朝,有一位县令,为人正直,刚正不阿。一日,县衙门来了位老农,哭诉说自己辛苦种的一亩良田被邻家恶霸霸占了,求县令为民做主。县令听后大怒,立刻派人将恶霸抓来。审问之下,恶霸不仅承认了罪行,还跪地求饶,表示愿意赔偿老农损失,并保证以后再也不敢犯。县令见恶霸悔过态度诚恳,又念其以往并无劣迹,便决定从轻发落,只罚他赔偿老农损失,并责令他向老农道歉,不再追究其他责任。恶霸感激涕零,连连磕头谢恩,从此改过自新,再也不曾做过坏事。而老农也得到了应有的赔偿,心里十分高兴。
In the Ming Dynasty, a county magistrate known for his integrity and impartiality received a complaint from an old farmer whose land had been seized by a bully. The magistrate, after apprehending the bully and hearing his confession and apology, decided to be lenient and imposed only compensation and a public apology, not further punishment. The bully changed his ways and the farmer received justice.
