从前，有个村子里住着一位老农，他家种的粮食总是被田鼠偷吃。乡亲们都建议他去捉老鼠，但他却认为捉老鼠太麻烦，便任由老鼠肆虐。结果，老鼠越来越多，田鼠成灾，粮食几乎颗粒无收。老农最后也因饥饿而倒下。
Once upon a time, there was an old farmer who lived in a village. His crops were always stolen by field mice. His neighbors suggested he catch the mice, but he thought it was too much trouble, so he let the mice wreak havoc. As a result, the mice grew more and more numerous, and a mouse plague resulted, with almost no harvest left. The old farmer eventually died of hunger.
