In ancient China, during the Tang Dynasty, there was a poor scholar named Li Bai who had high aspirations and was determined to pass the imperial examination. One day, on his way to the examination, he was robbed by bandits. The bandits were fierce and robbed anyone they encountered. Li Bai, unarmed, could only watch helplessly as the bandits stole his money and even his clothes. In despair, Li Bai thought that if he lost his life, there would be no hope left. Just as he was about to surrender, he suddenly remembered a precious jade pendant that had been passed down from his ancestors. Although the jade pendant was priceless, it was nothing compared to his life and fortune. Li Bai had a bright idea, he raised the pendant high and shouted, “Brave gentlemen, this jade pendant is an ancestral heirloom, priceless, and I would willingly give it to you, only asking that you would spare my life and fortune!” The bandits, upon hearing this, were all eyes. They had never seen such a precious jade pendant, and quickly put down their swords and respectfully accepted the pendant, then released Li Bai. Li Bai narrowly escaped, arrived at the examination hall, and ultimately passed the examination, thus becoming famous throughout the land.
