Explanation
It is a metaphor for the mutual influence between things: when one link changes, it will trigger a series of changes.
Origin Story
In a calm pond, a frog jumped into the water, breaking the surface stillness. The ripples spread out in circles, causing the pond lilies to gently sway. The swaying of the lilies disturbed the dragonflies hiding under the lily pads. The dragonflies flew up, their wings beating the water, creating new ripples. These ripples touched the fish at the bottom of the pond; the fish swam, startling a group of small shrimp. The escape of the small shrimp attracted a group of small fish… In this way, the simple action of a frog jumping into the water triggered a series of chain reactions, bringing the entire pond to life. It’s like life: A small choice can sometimes have an unexpectedly huge impact.
