During the Spring and Autumn period, Confucius traveled among various states. After repeated setbacks in the states of Wei, Chen, and Cai, he received an invitation from the state of Chu. The states of Chen and Cai colluded and released prisoners to intercept Confucius. The news spread quickly, and those prisoners, reacting immediately, surrounded Confucius and his disciples in the wilderness for many days, cutting off their supplies. Confucius had no choice but to send his student Zi Gong to seek help. When they heard that the Chu army was coming to rescue them, the prisoners were so scared that they fled in all directions. This story tells us that timely reactions and effective responses are crucial when facing crises. It also warns us to always be vigilant to overcome danger at critical moments.
