During the Ming Dynasty, there was a poor scholar named Li Shan who always dreamed of achieving fame and honor. However, due to his impoverished circumstances, he was unable to realize his ambitions. One day, Li Shan accidentally learned that a wealthy merchant in a neighboring village had a large amount of gold and silver treasures hidden in his home. He became greedy and, under the cover of darkness, sneaked into the merchant's house to steal the valuables. However, the merchant discovered him, and Li Shan, to silence him, killed the merchant and escaped with the loot.
