战国时期，燕国有个叫苏秦的人，他游说各国诸侯，想让他们联合起来对抗秦国。但各诸侯国之间互相猜忌，不肯联合。苏秦就利用各国之间的矛盾，巧妙地周旋于各国之间，从中获取利益。他先到齐国，劝说齐王联合其他国家攻打秦国，齐王答应了。然后他又跑到赵国，劝说赵王也参与联合行动，并承诺帮助赵国夺回被秦国占领的土地。在取得赵王同意后，苏秦又去游说其他诸侯，最终促成了几个诸侯国的联合，共同对抗秦国。而苏秦则成为了这件联盟行动的关键人物，赢得了各国的尊重和重用。虽然对抗秦国的最终目的并未完全实现，但苏秦依靠自己的智慧和策略，利用各国之间的矛盾，在复杂的国际形势中，为自己赢得了名利双收的好结果，可谓是坐收渔利。
During the Warring States period in China, there was a man named Su Qin from the state of Yan. He traveled around the country, trying to convince the princes of various states to unite against the state of Qin. However, the princes were suspicious of each other and refused to unite. Su Qin took advantage of the conflicts between states to cleverly maneuver between them, gaining profit. He went to Qi first and persuaded the king to unite with other states to attack Qin. Then he went to Zhao, and persuaded Zhao to join the alliance, promising to help Zhao regain the land occupied by Qin. After Zhao's agreement, Su Qin persuaded other princes, finally forming an alliance to confront Qin. Su Qin became a key figure in this alliance, winning respect and employment from various states. Although the ultimate goal of confronting Qin was not completely achieved, Su Qin, using his wisdom and strategy, took advantage of conflicts among states, and gained fame and fortune in the complicated international situation, this can be described as sitting back and reaping the benefits.
