话说张飞入川，听闻巴郡守将严颜乃一员猛将，屡次攻城不下。张飞设计擒获严颜，严颜宁死不屈。张飞敬佩严颜的忠勇，对其礼遇有加，最终严颜被张飞的真诚所感动，归顺蜀汉。张飞与严颜，一个粗犷豪迈，一个忠贞刚毅，看似性格迥异，却在战场上惺惺相惜，成就一段佳话。这便是英雄惜英雄，惺惺相惜的典范。
It is said that when Zhang Fei entered Sichuan, he heard that Yan Yan, the commander of Bazhou, was a fierce general, and repeatedly failed to capture the city.
