Origin Story
唐朝诗人常建与赵嘏齐名，但常建一直很敬佩赵嘏的才华。一次，常建得知赵嘏要到灵岩寺游览，便先赶到寺庙，在寺庙的墙壁上写了两句诗，意思是抛砖引玉，希望赵嘏能看到后写诗。赵嘏到了寺庙后，看到常建的诗后，便在后面续写了两句诗，二人诗作合在一起，成为一首完整的七言绝句。
The Tang Dynasty poets Chang Jian and Zhao Gu were equally famous, but Chang Jian always admired Zhao Gu's talent. Once, Chang Jian learned that Zhao Gu would visit Lingyan Temple, so he rushed to the temple and wrote two poems on the temple wall, meaning to throw bricks to attract jade, hoping that Zhao Gu would see it and write poems. After Zhao Gu arrived at the temple, he saw Chang Jian's poems and then wrote two more poems behind them. The two poems together became a complete seven-character quatrain.
