Origin Story
In a prosperous dynasty, the emperor was addicted to pleasure and ignored the suffering of the people. In order to maintain their power, the treacherous ministers tried their best to whitewash the peace, extravagantly proclaiming national peace and stability, and creating a false image of prosperity. However, under the seemingly calm appearance, there was a cruel reality of people’s suffering: heavy taxes, corrupt officials, displaced people, and widespread complaints. A righteous official couldn’t stand it any longer and wrote to the emperor, exposing the corruption of the court and the suffering of the people, which eventually led to the downfall of the dynasty.
