Origin Story
晋献文子赵武为自己建造了一座新宅。完工之日，晋国大夫张老前来祝贺，赞叹道：“美哉轮焉，美哉奂焉！”意思是说这房子高大宏伟，气势恢宏，令人赞叹不已。赵武也深感自豪，他表示：“我建造这座宅子，不只是为了享受荣华富贵，更是为了能够更好的祭祀祖先，告慰他们的在天之灵。希望我的子孙后代也能继承先祖遗志，光宗耀祖。”后来，人们便用“美轮美奂”来形容建筑物宏伟华丽，也常用来形容其他事物美好辉煌。
Lord Zhao Wu of Jin built a new house for himself. On the day of completion, Zhang Lao, a Jin official, came to congratulate him and exclaimed, "Beautiful are the tall pillars, beautiful is the vast space!" This means that the house is magnificent, majestic, and admirable. Zhao Wu was also very proud, and he said: "I built this house not only to enjoy wealth and honor, but also to better worship my ancestors and comfort their spirits in heaven. I hope that my descendants can also inherit the legacy of their ancestors and bring glory to the family." Later, people used the idiom "meilunmeihua" to describe the magnificence and splendor of buildings, and also to describe other beautiful and glorious things.
