小山村里住着一位老实巴脚的农民老张，他一辈子勤勤恳恳，日出而作，日入而息，从不与人争抢。他家的田地虽然不多，但总是打理得井井有条。他性格内向，不善言辞，但在村里人眼中却是一个值得信赖的好人。 村里来了个外乡人，想买老张家的一块地，老张虽然舍不得，但对方开价合理，他也没多想就答应了。卖地后，老张把钱存进了银行，心里踏实多了。 过了些日子，老张听说有人用高价收购土地，心里后悔不已，觉得自己亏了。他找到村长，想问问有没有办法补救，村长笑着劝慰他：『老张啊，你为人老实，心地善良，这是你的优点。凡事别太计较，知足常乐。』 老张听后，觉得村长说得对，他并没有因为错过了赚钱的机会而怨天尤人，依然过着平静而满足的生活。
In a small village lived a simple and honest farmer named Lao Zhang. He worked diligently all his life, rising with the sun and resting at dusk, never competing with others. His land wasn't large, but it was always well-maintained. He was introverted and not much of a talker, but he was considered a trustworthy and kind person in the village. An outsider came to the village and wanted to buy a piece of Lao Zhang's land. Though Lao Zhang was reluctant, the price was fair, and he readily agreed. After the sale, Lao Zhang deposited the money in the bank, feeling much more secure. Some time later, Lao Zhang heard that land was being bought up at high prices and regretted his decision. He went to the village head to see if there was any way to remedy the situation. The village head smiled and consoled him: ‘Lao Zhang, you are an honest and kind man, that's your virtue. Don't worry too much about things; contentment is happiness.’ Lao Zhang agreed with the village head's words. He didn't resent missing out on a chance to make more money and continued to live a peaceful and fulfilling life.
