Origin Story
西汉时期，涿郡太守严延年以其刚正不阿闻名。他到任后，听说当地豪强高氏家族横行霸道，便派属官赵绣前去调查。赵绣本想暗中包庇高氏，但严延年早已洞悉一切。他断案时，不拘一格，严惩豪强，令地方官员和百姓都难以揣测他的心思，深感其处事莫测高深。严延年最终将高氏家族绳之以法，维护了地方的公平正义，他的莫测高深也成了后人谈论的佳话。
During the Western Han Dynasty, Yan Yanyan, the prefect of Zhuojun, was known for his integrity and incorruptibility. After taking office, he heard that the powerful Gao family in the local area was domineering and tyrannical, so he sent his subordinate Zhao Xiu to investigate. Zhao Xiu originally wanted to secretly protect the Gao family, but Yan Yanyan had already seen through everything. When he judged cases, he was unconventional, severely punishing the powerful and influential families, causing local officials and people to be unable to fathom his thoughts, deeply feeling that his actions were inscrutable and profound. Yan Yanyan eventually brought the Gao family to justice, maintaining fairness and justice in the region. His inscrutability and profoundness became a good story told by later generations.
