In the examination room, he was helpless because he had not truly understood the knowledge in the book. He deeply regretted it and only then understood how bad this learning method was. In the end, he failed the exam and changed his learning method. He studied diligently and eventually mastered the topics. Another story tells of a scholar who wanted to quickly read through a book without thinking. In the end, he retained nothing. His friend advised him to read slowly and thoroughly, yet he insisted on his method and learned nothing.
