During the Anti-Japanese War, a small village was occupied by Japanese troops. An old man over seventy years old, who had long been the moral pillar of the village, deeply loved his homeland and fellow villagers. The Japanese soldiers repeatedly tried to force him with threats and bribery to help them find the Eighth Route Army, but the old man steadfastly refused to divulge any information. Enraged, the Japanese soldiers tied him to a tree and tried to force him to speak with bayonets. The old man gritted his teeth and remained silent.
