话说唐朝时期,有个秀才去参加科举考试。考官出了个难题:‘解释“并为一谈”’。秀才绞尽脑汁,也只想到用“混淆”来解释,实在想不出其他的解释方法。他深知,如果不能圆满解释这个成语,他的科举之路就会就此终结。于是,他灵机一动,决定用一个故事来解释。他说道:‘话说很久以前,有个农夫,他种了一块地,收获了稻米和麦子。他把稻米和麦子混在一起,然后高高兴兴地把它们带回家,并对家人说:’我今年的收成可真不错!’家人一看,稻米和麦子混在一起,也感到非常高兴。可是,农夫把稻米和麦子混在一起后,就无法再区分它们,最后导致稻米和麦子都坏掉了,农夫颗粒无收。’秀才说到这里,停顿了一下,然后接着说道:‘这个故事就如同“并为一谈”一样,虽然乍看之下,好像把所有事物混在一起没有什么问题,但实际上,如果不加区分,就可能会造成不可挽回的损失。’考官听完秀才的故事后,不禁点了点头,说道:‘你的解释很有道理,而且故事生动有趣。’
