During the reign of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, there was a powerful and corrupt minister named Yan Song. To consolidate his power, he gathered a group of corrupt officials. For their own interests, these officials colluded with each other, forming cliques for personal gain. They engaged in embezzlement, bribery, and oppression of the people, leading to widespread corruption and suffering. Yan Song's henchmen were ubiquitous, and officials flattered him, afraid to offend him. At that time, upright officials suffered, many were persecuted by Yan Song, dismissed from office, or even killed. Among them was a righteous official named Hai Rui, who was incorruptible and dared to confront Yan Song. Yan Song sent people to assassinate Hai Rui many times, but Hai Rui always escaped. In the end, Hai Rui exposed Yan Song's crimes, and Yan Song was executed by the emperor. His accomplices were also investigated and punished, and the Ming Dynasty eventually recovered.
