Origin Story

Su Shi, a great writer of the Song Dynasty, was demoted to Huangzhou. He was in low spirits. One day, he visited the Red Cliff, and seeing the rushing river and the high-hanging moon, his mood suddenly brightened, so he wrote the famous "Preface to the Red Cliff". In the essay, he wrote: "Only the clear wind over the river and the moon in the mountains, the ears receive it and become sound, the eyes meet it and become color, it can be taken without restriction and used inexhaustibly." Here, "can be taken without restriction and used inexhaustibly" describes the clear wind over the river and the moon in the mountains, which are inexhaustible, just like the boundless treasures of nature. Su Shi used this to express his broad-mindedness and his admiration for the creation of nature. In fact, there are many resources in nature, such as sunlight, air, and dew. They are all invaluable wealth that is inexhaustible. We should cherish them. The story also tells us that no matter what difficulties we encounter, we should maintain an optimistic and upward-looking attitude, draw strength from nature’s gifts, and move forward bravely.
