Legend has it that a long time ago, in a deep mountain forest, there was a monk named Huineng. He traveled far and wide in search of a clean place to practice. One day, he came to a deserted valley, attracted by its quiet environment, he decided to build a temple there to practice. He worked alone, splitting rocks and felling trees with his own hands. After much hardship, he finally built a simple temple. Huineng's piety and perseverance moved the mountain gods, who bestowed upon him magical powers that allowed his temple to grow larger and attract more and more believers to worship.
