话说唐朝贞观年间，长安城外有一座寺庙，庙里住着一位德高望重的长老。一日，长老独自在山间采药，不料遭遇了瓢泼大雨。雨势凶猛，宛如天河决堤，倾盆而下，长老躲在一块巨石下避雨。雨水顺着山崖飞流直下，形成一条条瀑布，气势磅礴。长老心中感叹大自然的威力，雨停后，长老发现山间百花盛开，生机勃勃，这瓢泼大雨洗刷了山间的尘埃，让万物更加清新靓丽。长老感慨万千，写了一首诗，赞美这场瓢泼大雨的壮观景象，以及大雨过后万物复苏的景象。这首诗流传至今，成为一首名篇。
