Origin Story

Táng cháo shí qī, yī wèi míng jiào Lǐ Bái de shī rén, zài yī cì wài chū yóu lì de tú zhōng, zāo yù le yī chǎng tū rú qí lái de bào yǔ. Yǔ shì xiōng měng, rú tóng tiān hé jué dī, dà yǔ rú zhù, shùn jiān jiāng zhōu wéi de yī qiè dōu yān mò zài yǔ lián zhī zhōng. Lǐ Bái hé tā de pú rén duǒ zài yī zuò pò miào lǐ bì yǔ, tīng zhe yǔ shuǐ chōng jī wū dǐng de shēng yīn, Lǐ Bái xīn zhōng yǒng qǐ yī gǔ háo mài zhī qíng, tā huī háo pō mò, xiě xià le yī shǒu qì shì páng bó de shī gē, lái zàn měi zhè chǎng qì shì huī hóng de dà yǔ. Shī zhōng xiě dào: ‘dà yǔ rú zhù, qì shì páng bó, tiān dì yī piàn cāng máng.’ Zhè shǒu shī, hòu lái chéng le qiānguǐ míng piān, liú chuán zhì jīn, yě ràng zhè chǎng dà yǔ rú zhù de jīng lì, chéng le le rén men jīn jīn dàodào de gù shì.

During the Tang Dynasty, a poet named Li Bai encountered a sudden downpour while traveling. The rain was fierce, like a broken river from heaven, pouring down and instantly submerging everything around him. Li Bai and his servant took shelter in a dilapidated temple, listening to the sound of the rain beating against the roof. A feeling of grandeur filled Li Bai's heart. He took up his brush and ink, and composed a magnificent poem praising the spectacular rain. The poem read, 'The rain poured down, majestic and powerful, heaven and earth in a single hazy expanse.' This poem became a classic, passed down through the ages, and the experience of this torrential downpour has become a story people love to tell.
