In 260 BC, the Qin army suddenly attacked the Zhao kingdom, and the two sides launched a fierce battle. This war was fought without a prior declaration of war, and the Zhao kingdom, completely unprepared, suffered heavy losses. This undeclared war also heralded the beginning of the brutal wars of annexation between the various states during the Warring States period. The Qin army was unstoppable, and the Zhao kingdom retreated steadily, eventually leading to the outbreak of the Battle of Changping, in which the Zhao kingdom lost more than 400,000 troops. The undeclared war broke the rules of war and brought a devastating catastrophe to the Zhao kingdom. There are many similar examples in history; the consequences of an undeclared war were often disastrous. In modern society, such behavior is even less acceptable and considered a violation of international law and human morality.
