Origin Story

Once upon a time, in a bustling marketplace, there were two vendors, one selling candied haws, the other roasted sweet potatoes. One day, the weather was cold, and people flocked to buy their goods. However, the two vendors' stalls were very close together, and to grab business, they refused to yield to each other. The candied haw vendor shouted loudly, pricing lower than his opponent, attracting many customers. The roasted sweet potato vendor was not convinced and also offered discounts and free cups of hot tea. In this way, they competed fiercely, and the whole marketplace was filled with their calls. By evening, though they had both sold a lot, they were still unhappy seeing each other's thriving business. Then an elderly man came, saw their dispute and smiled. "Children," he said, "harmony brings wealth, why compete for this small profit?" After listening to the old man, the two vendors realized their mistake, smiled at each other, and decided to cooperate. Since then, there was no more arguing in the marketplace, only harmony and cooperation.
