During the Tang Dynasty, the writer Liu Zongyuan was demoted for offending powerful figures and suffered repeated setbacks in his career. However, he always adhered to his political ideals and, with his sharp writing style, frequently criticized current affairs, even speaking frankly. Han Yu, when memorializing Liu Zongyuan, wrote: “玉佩琼琚，大放厥词”, praising Liu Zongyuan's courage and talent in expressing his views. Despite his repeated demotions, Liu Zongyuan always stuck to his principles, fearing no power, and spoke his mind freely, leaving behind many valuable literary works and intellectual legacies for posterity. His spirit of upholding truth and daring to speak out has also inspired generation after generation of literati.
