Origin Story
During the Three Kingdoms period in China, the famous Shu Han general Guan Yu was stationed in Jingzhou. When he heard that Zhuge Liang had used strategies in Xichuan to make the famous Xiliang general Ma Chao surrender, he was quite unhappy and wrote a letter to Zhuge Liang, asking about Ma Chao's martial arts skills. Zhuge Liang knew well Guan Yu’s arrogant and complacent personality, so he greatly praised Guan Yu’s unparalleled martial arts skills in his reply, which far surpassed Ma Chao, and tactfully comforted Guan Yu, eliminating his doubts. After that, Guan Yu devoted himself even more to the service of Shu Han, laying a solid foundation for Shu Han's future career. Guan Yu's martial arts skills were indeed unparalleled; the story of his passing through five passes and defeating six generals is still widely known today.
