公元249年,魏国皇帝曹芳年幼,大权落入曹爽手中。司马懿虽然地位显赫,但一直被曹爽压制,司马懿表面上对曹爽恭敬有加,暗地里却一直在积蓄力量,图谋篡权。司马懿的野心,朝中大臣大多心知肚明,甚至连普通百姓也都看在眼里。一次,曹爽兄弟外出,司马懿趁机发动政变,将曹爽兄弟一网打尽。司马懿成功夺权后,他的野心路人皆知,最终他家族掌控了魏国,并最终奠定了晋朝的基业。
