Origin Story

春秋时期，楚国有一位狂士名叫接舆，他四处游历，宣扬自己的政治主张，却总是不被世人理解。一天，他遇到一个名叫肩吾的人，接舆告诉他北海有一座姑射山，山上住着神仙，神仙有能力让天下五谷丰登。肩吾觉得接舆的话荒诞不经，不切实际，认为这种说法不近人情。于是，他便将接舆的话告诉了连叔，连叔却陷入了沉思，良久才开口说道："接舆的话虽然听起来很不可思议，但这其中却蕴含着深刻的道理。他所说的神仙，或许就是指那些能够为民谋福的贤明君主。如果我们能找到这样的君主，天下自然会太平盛世。"肩吾听后，恍然大悟，明白了接舆话语背后的深意。虽然接舆的表达方式有些夸张，但他所表达的愿望和期盼，却是真诚而美好的，只是表达方式让肩吾觉得不近人情。从此，肩吾对接舆的态度也发生了转变，开始尊重并欣赏他的思想和情怀。

During the Spring and Autumn Period, there was an eccentric scholar in Chu named Jieyu who traveled everywhere, advocating his political views, yet he was always misunderstood by the world. One day, he met a man named Jianwu, and Jieyu told him that in the North Sea there was a Mount Gushishan, inhabited by gods, and that these gods had the ability to increase the harvest of the land. Jianwu found Jieyu's words absurd and unrealistic, believing such claims to be unfeeling. So, he told Lien Shu about Jieyu's words, but Lien Shu fell into deep thought, and after a long time, he spoke: "Although Jieyu's words may sound incredible, they contain a deep meaning. The gods he spoke of might be those wise rulers who work for the people's benefit. If we can find such rulers, the world will naturally enter an era of peace and prosperity." After hearing this, Jianwu suddenly realized the deeper meaning behind Jieyu's words. Although Jieyu's expression was somewhat exaggerated, his wishes and expectations were sincere and beautiful; it was only his way of expressing them that made Jianwu feel unfeeling. From that day on, Jianwu changed his attitude toward Jieyu, beginning to respect and appreciate his thoughts and sentiments.

Usage

形容人或事不近人情。常用于批评、指责他人。

xingrong ren huoshi bu jin ren qing. Chang yongyu piping, zhizhe taren.
