一位老先生，家住山村，每天都会在自家菜园里忙碌。一天，他发现自家种的茄子突然枯萎了，而且是整株枯萎，仿佛一夜之间就失去了生机。老先生百思不得其解，他仔细观察了茄子，并没有发现任何病虫害的迹象。他试着浇水、施肥，甚至还去请教了村里的老农，但茄子依然没有起死回生。老先生为此寝食难安，整日里愁眉苦脸，百思不得其解。后来，一位路过的行脚僧人看到了老先生的愁容，便询问了原因。老先生将茄子枯萎的事情告诉了僧人，僧人仔细地观察了茄子，最后指着一棵小树说：“这棵树长得太高了，遮住了茄子阳光，所以茄子才会枯萎。”老先生恍然大悟，原来如此！他连忙将小树修剪了一下，几天后，茄子重新恢复了生机。

An old man lived in a mountain village and worked in his vegetable garden every day. One day, he found that his eggplants had suddenly withered, the whole plant, as if they had lost their life overnight. The old man couldn't understand. He carefully examined the eggplants but found no signs of pests or diseases. He tried watering, fertilizing, and even consulted the old farmer in the village, but the eggplants still didn't come back to life. The old man was sleepless and unhappy because of this, he just couldn't understand. Later, a passing monk saw the old man's sad face and asked the reason. The old man told the monk about the withered eggplants. The monk carefully examined the eggplants and finally pointed to a small tree: "This tree has grown too tall and is overshadowing the eggplants, which is why they are wilting." The old man suddenly realized, that's it! He immediately trimmed the small tree, and a few days later, the eggplants recovered.
