Origin Story
Wang Zhaojun married far away to the Xiongnu Dynasty and was thousands of miles away from her family and friends. Night after night she longed for her hometown and was often filled with longing so that she could not sleep. She often dreamed of returning to the home forest, smelling the familiar smell of the earth, and hearing the calls of her loved ones. After waking up, this longing was even stronger. Later, she wrote many poems to express her love and longing for her hometown. In one of her poems, it says: 'The autumn wind rustles, the leaves fall, I am filled with longing, when can I ever return to my hometown?' This story was passed down by later generations, and people often use the expression '魂牵梦萦' to express their longing for their hometown or loved ones.
