Taking the initiative to attack in order to achieve the purpose of defense. It is a proactive defensive strategy, by preempting, disrupting the enemy's offensive rhythm, thereby achieving the purpose of protecting oneself.
Origin Story
战国时期，齐国和魏国在马陵大战。魏将庞涓率大军攻打齐国，齐将孙膑料敌于先，预设伏兵，在魏军必经之路上设下埋伏。庞涓中计，陷入齐军重围，全军覆没。孙膑以少胜多，正是运用了“以攻为守”的策略。魏军来势汹汹，齐国本应采取防御战略，但孙膑却反其道而行之，先发制人，以强大的进攻击溃魏军。这场战争不仅是军事上的胜利，也展现了孙膑卓越的战略战术能力。
During the Warring States period, the state of Qi and the state of Wei fought a major battle at Maling. Wei general Pang Juan led a large army to attack the state of Qi. Qi general Sun Bin, anticipating the enemy, set up an ambush on the route the Wei army must take. Pang Juan fell into the trap, and his entire army was wiped out. Sun Bin's victory over superior numbers was a result of employing the strategy of "attack as defense". Facing a formidable Wei army, Sun Bin did not adopt a defensive strategy but instead took the initiative with a powerful attack, achieving victory.
