Origin Story

In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a peasant uprising leader named Zhang Jiao, who claimed to be the leader of the "Taiping Dao" and spread the word that "The Heavenly Emperor is dead, the Yellow Emperor should take his place," urging the people to rise up against the Qin Dynasty. To win over people's hearts, Zhang Jiao and his followers often feigned kindness and righteousness, showing concern for the people, giving them generous handouts, and even working alongside them in the fields. For a while, Zhang Jiao's reputation soared, and his Taiping Dao grew stronger and stronger, with followers all over the country. However, the Taiping Dao did not truly speak for the people; their ultimate goal was to overthrow the Han Dynasty and establish their own regime. In the uprising process, they committed many crimes, killing countless innocent people. Therefore, the "feigned kindness and righteousness" of Zhang Jiao and his Taiping Dao were merely a cover for their evil intentions and failed to win the people's true hearts, ultimately ending in failure.
