Origin Story
During the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the great poet Tao Yuanming loved reading from a young age, especially in a quiet environment. He would often sit alone in his study, quietly reading. Every time he opened a book and read carefully, he would always gain knowledge and inspiration from the book, often neglecting food and sleep, immersed in the ocean of books. Once, Tao Yuanming's friends Zi Yan and others visited him, seeing Tao Yuanming reading so intently, they could not help but exclaim: 'Opening a book always brings something, that's really admirable!' Tao Yuanming replied with a smile: 'Yes, reading really does make people wiser and broaden their horizons.' From then on, "Opening a book always brings something" became a famous saying encouraging people to study hard. Tao Yuanming's diligence and love of learning also inspired generation after generation to constantly pursue knowledge and improve themselves.
