During the Tang Dynasty, there lived a poet named Li Bai, whose talent was unparalleled and whose name was known throughout the land. However, his straightforward nature had offended many powerful figures. Once, at a court banquet, surrounded by lavish drinking and merrymaking, Li Bai sensed a chill in the air. Several officials cast him unfriendly glances. He felt a plot brewing. Sure enough, after the banquet, Li Bai was inexplicably impeached by the imperial censor for "improper conduct." Behind this, powerful officials he had offended were working against him, using various means to frame him. Li Bai was exiled from the capital. Though ultimately unscathed, the event taught him the fearsome reality of "hidden arrows wounding people." He understood that in the treacherous court, open attacks were easier to avoid than those launched in secrecy. From then on, Li Bai lived more cautiously and cherished the friendships of those who truly understood him.
