Once upon a time, in ancient China, there was a scholar named Zhang Qin. After ten years of diligent study, he finally passed the imperial examination and was appointed by the court to a post in the border region. The border region was remote and the environment harsh. When Zhang Qin first arrived, he had some complaints, but thinking of his responsibilities and the expectations of the people, he gritted his teeth and devoted himself entirely to his work. He worked hard day and night, attending to government affairs and reviewing documents. He devoted himself to building irrigation facilities and solving the problems of the people, and won their deep respect. After a few years, the court sent officials to inspect his work, and they were all amazed by Zhang Qin’s achievements. They praised him for his tremendous contribution to the governance of the border region. But Zhang Qin did not become arrogant or complacent. Instead, he continued to maintain his diligent and responsible work attitude, for in his heart he held a firm conviction: to serve the country and the people with single-minded devotion, giving all he had until his death.
