In the height of summer, the sun blazed down, roasting the earth. A young scholar, hurrying to take an important exam, rushed along the road. He wore a heavy long robe, his clothes soaked with sweat, and his heart was filled with anxiety. The exam was imminent, and he feared he would be late, while also worrying about whether he was sufficiently prepared. The road under the scorching sun seemed to burn, making him feel as if he were in a furnace, his whole body baked and his heart like an ant on a hot plate. He constantly wiped away his sweat, quickening his pace, hoping to reach the examination hall as soon as possible.
