During the Warring States period, a strategist named Sun Bin was persecuted in the state of Wei and had his kneecaps removed. He lived in seclusion. Many people knew of his talent and wanted to make his acquaintance, but Sun Bin knew that the political situation in Wei was corrupt and did not want to get involved. He lived a secluded life and rarely interacted with others. Once, an official who admired Sun Bin's reputation paid a special visit to invite him to come out of seclusion to assist King Wei of Qi. The official prepared a lavish banquet and offered many precious gifts, hoping to win over Sun Bin. During the banquet, the official expressed his admiration for Sun Bin and repeatedly asked whether he was willing to come out of seclusion.
