During the Tang Dynasty, there was a county magistrate named Li Gongzuo, known for his integrity and honesty. One day, a peasant woman came to the county government office to file a complaint, weeping and recounting how a bully had seized her land. Li Gongzuo listened carefully to her story, and understanding that she was telling the truth, he was filled with anger. However, he didn't lash out at her with harsh words and a stern face, instead he patiently calmed her down and immediately dispatched officers to investigate the matter. Once the investigation was concluded, Li Gongzuo immediately ordered the bully to be brought to justice and returned the land to the peasant woman. The people praised Li Gongzuo for his fairness and justice, and they respected him all the more. This story became a local legend, highlighting the importance of honest and just governance.
