Once upon a time, there were several blind men who wanted to know what an elephant was like. So they went to a place where elephants were kept and walked around the elephant, touching it. One of them touched the elephant's leg and said, “An elephant is like a pillar.” Another touched the elephant's ear and said, “An elephant is like a fan.” Another touched the elephant's tail and said, “An elephant is like a rope.” The other blind men also touched different parts of the elephant and gave different answers. Finally, they were all convinced that they had recognized the true appearance of the elephant.
