Origin Story

During the Warring States period, Qu Yuan, a poet from the Chu state, was highly regarded by King Chu Huai for his extraordinary talent and patriotism. He actively advocated for reforms to strengthen the country and form an alliance with Qi against Qin, but was envied by the treacherous officials Shangguan Daifu Jinshang and Ling Yin Zilan. In order to protect their interests, these two men continually slandered Qu Yuan to King Chu Huai, twisting the facts and falsely accusing him. They portrayed Qu Yuan's reform proposals as disrupting the government and his anti-Qin strategy as bringing disaster to the country, even fabricating various trumped-up charges against him. King Chu Huai, deceived by the treacherous ministers, ultimately exiled Qu Yuan, causing him to die in depression and regret. Qu Yuan's tragic fate was a direct result of the evil deeds of those treacherous ministers who twisted the truth and framed loyal subjects.
