Origin Story
During the Warring States Period in China, Qi was a powerful kingdom ruled by King Wei. King Wei was known for his wisdom and love for his people, but he noticed that the kingdom, despite its power, had many problems. The people were suffering from poverty, and the country was involved in many conflicts. To solve these problems, King Wei decided to reform the kingdom's political system in order to give the people a better life. However, many of his advisors opposed his reforms, arguing that the existing system was working well and there was no need for change. They argued that Qi had been acting according to the rules of its ancestors for centuries and it was unlucky and dangerous to change this. It would only cause panic among the people. Faced with the opposition of his advisors, King Wei remained steadfast and insisted on his reforms. He said, "We cannot simply continue to act according to the old rules. Times have changed and we must change too. If we simply continue as we are, we will sooner or later be overtaken by other countries and eventually fall into decline. We must keep up with the times, constantly reform, in order to make Qi stronger and stronger." Eventually, King Wei successfully reformed the political system of Qi, which enabled the people to live a more prosperous life and Qi became one of the most powerful kingdoms during the Warring States Period.
