Origin Story
话说唐朝时期,有个年轻秀才,寒窗苦读十年,终于考中了进士。他满心欢喜,回家报喜,却遭到父亲的冷嘲热讽。父亲认为他读书十年,一无所成,还不如务农,便一笔抹杀了他多年的努力和成就。秀才心灰意冷,从此不再读书,结果多年以后,他连温饱都成问题,后悔莫及。
In the Tang Dynasty, there was a young scholar who studied hard for ten years and finally passed the imperial examination. He was overjoyed and went home to share the good news, but was met with his father's ridicule and sarcasm. His father believed that he had studied for ten years without achieving anything, and that it would have been better to farm, so he dismissed his years of hard work and achievements. The scholar was disheartened and stopped studying. Years later, he had trouble making ends meet and deeply regretted it.
