Fan Zhongyan's actions caused dissatisfaction among many officials, who pleaded with him for mercy, but Fan Zhongyan always stuck to his principles and eventually dismissed all these officials. From then on, Fan Zhongyan's reputation spread even further, and he became a model of integrity and righteousness.
