On a cold winter night, a ragged old man came to the gate of a wealthy man named Wang. Wang was kind by nature, but his steward was greedy and miserly. He gave the old man the cold shoulder, even speaking harshly to him and turning him away. The old man sadly left, shivering in the wind and snow. When Wang learned of this, he regretted it deeply and went to look for the old man, but to no avail. This story shows us that giving someone the cold shoulder not only hurts others, but ultimately harms oneself.
