Origin Story
During the Three Kingdoms period, after Zhuge Liang captured and released Meng Huo seven times, the Shu army won a complete victory. The soldiers were all full of energy and joy at their victory. They marched triumphantly towards Chengdu. After several months of arduous journey, they finally arrived at the city of Chengdu. The citizens lined the streets to welcome them, drums echoed, firecrackers exploded, and cheers were heard. Emperor Liu Shan of Shu-Han personally came out to welcome them and hosted a banquet for the victorious soldiers. Zhuge Liang reported the results of the southern campaign to the emperor, and Liu Shan was overjoyed and highly praised the achievements of Zhuge Liang and all the soldiers, and richly rewarded them. This is the famous story of "The Seven Captures of Meng Huo," which is also a classic example of a triumphant return.
