Explanation

Loud: the guests' voices drown out the host's voices. A metaphor for something foreign or secondary taking over the position of the original or main thing.

Origin Story

Once upon a time, there was a wealthy merchant who held a wedding banquet at his home, inviting many guests. During the feast, the guests were lively and engaging in conversation, their voices overlapping. The host originally intended to introduce his treasured antiques, but the guests were so engrossed that they didn't notice, and the host's several attempts to interject were unsuccessful, finally giving up. At the banquet, the guests completely overshadowed the host.
