Origin Story
During the Three Kingdoms period in ancient China, Zhuge Liang, the chancellor of Shu Han, launched a Northern Expedition against Wei. Faced with Wei's powerful military force, he did not adopt the strategy of a swift attack to directly capture Wei, but instead chose a step-by-step approach, first taking strategic locations and gradually advancing. Within the Shu army, there were different voices. Some generals suggested that Zhuge Liang should attack multiple cities of Wei simultaneously to achieve a quick victory. However, Zhuge Liang believed that this approach was too risky and was likely to lead to the defeat. Based on Wei's military deployment and geographical environment, he developed a detailed operational plan, using a steady strategy to gradually erode Wei's territory. In the end, Zhuge Liang's strategy achieved significant results, and the Shu army won a series of victories in the Northern Expedition. This story teaches us that when facing a powerful enemy, we should formulate a reasonable strategy based on the actual situation. We should avoid attacking on all fronts and dispersing our forces, and instead concentrate our superior forces to strive for greater success.
