Origin Story

In the Tang Dynasty, there was a poet named Li Bai, who was incredibly talented but also known for his unrestrained and unruly personality. Once, drunk, he galloped through the streets of Chang'an on horseback, disregarding the safety of pedestrians, and creating a tremendous commotion. When people advised him to modify his behavior, he laughed and said, "A true gentleman should act chivalrously and not be constrained by trivialities!" His actions caused displeasure among many who believed he acted recklessly without regard for social order. Though Li Bai left behind countless immortal poems, his disregard for consequences and his arbitrary actions did invite criticism. The outcome of his wayward behavior ultimately affected his career trajectory. Even outstanding talent cannot evade societal reproach if one acts without restraint or consideration for consequences.
