In ancient China, there was a scholar named Li Bai who fell in love with a woman named Wang Zhaojun. The two hit it off and promised to stay together until the end of their days. Li Bai went to Chang'an to take the civil service examination in order to realize his dream, while Wang Zhaojun waited for him at home. After a few years, Li Bai finally became the top scorer in the civil service examination. He rushed back to his hometown to marry his beloved Wang Zhaojun. However, when he returned to his hometown, he found that Wang Zhaojun had already married another man. It turned out that Wang Zhaojun's father had betrothed her to the son of a wealthy merchant in the area for the sake of the family's interests. Li Bai was heartbroken when he heard this and became melancholy from then on. He never married again and longed for Wang Zhaojun his entire life.
